...Jehovah God as our Father but his Orginization as OUR MOTHER
Yes this makes sense to me.
My mother used to threaten me, knock me around and lie to me. Her pet comment was,' Do as you are told because I said so.'
Course, I wasn't a gladiator then.

If the bible is god's handbook for man, why is it such gobbledegook?
by Aussie Oz ini don't mean the basic moral code of behavior (that many non biblical lands also just happen to have) that people use to model their lives, but the 'deeper' stuff.... assuming that god has had his divine plan for vindicating himself etc ever since he figured that adam may screw up, and he needed to let faithful mankind know the 'plan' and how to survive it all.... why is the important stuff all gobbledegook?.
the time frame, prophecy, signs and so on are all so obscure that even the cleverest theologians can't understand it or agree on it.
the 'truth' is so muddled and juggled up that every understanding can be logically challenged with an equally challengable one.

Thanks for your post Tammy.
What my post asks is how can you be sure that what he taught was not made up or that a man called Jesus really existed and performed miracles. According to the bible, Jesus regularly said 'it is written' and quoted form Israelite scripture. Yet he wrote nothing down himself.
Are we to conclude that the record of Jesus' life was was left to chance and that God had no hand in making sure it was accurately recorded. This raises the possibility that Jesus could have lived and died leaving no record behind at all. In which case we would know nothing of his teachings. If we do not accept that men 'spoke from God as they were born along by Holy spirit,' to produce the bible, then even the accounts of what Jesus taught could have been invented by well meaning dreamers.
You say that you 'follow the direction and teachings that He gave.' How can you know what he really said if the Bible is just myth, hearsay and the opinion of men. Is the idea of Jesus ever existing, anymore believable that the existence of the 300 gods that the Greek and Romans had at that time?
Some churches have taken the vengeful, judgmental parts of the bible and used them as divine authorisation for war mongering. Some have read the other things attributed to Jesus and laid down their swords. This what is meant when people say that Christians choose the bit from the bible that appeal to them.
Christians who believes they have a relationship with the risen Jesus, have could write another small bible and claim that it was revealed to them. This makes many wonder why Christians base their faith on the teaching of Jesus according to the bible. Why not start again? Joseph smith did!
I don't doubt that you are a kind person and were before you became a Christian. You choose to believe the parts of the bible that you find appealing; the ethics and morals that strike a chord or resonate with you. You find comfort in believing you have Jesus as a friend and feel the world would be a better place if it followed the sermon on the mount. I would suggest that this has more to do with the type of person you are than the overal message of the bible.
Peace

Questions for BANE, SCHOLAR, and All Jehovah's Witnesses!
by UnDisfellowshipped inyou don't have to answer all of them at once.
i would be happy to see your answers to any of these questions.. remember, the inspired apostle peter gave this direction in the holy scriptures: "always [be] ready to make a defense before everyone that demands of you a reason for the hope in you, but doing so together with a mild temper and deep respect.
" (1st peter 3:15).

BANE If you are more than a wind-up merchant and really take these matters seriously, I have a question for you.
What are you doing on a web site associating with people who are, by your definition, apostates?
Flee from the unclean thing! And may Jah the god of the Israelites succour you.

keyser soze I share your sentiments.
Once we dismiss the bits of the bible that are inconvenient, how can we be sure Jesus ever lived or said the things the bible claims he did? We may as well throw the whole book away.
If it not the inspired word of god that it claims to be, then the bible writers have lied. The whole thing is suspect and is unacceptable as evidence. We are left with nothing.
Unless that is, Jesus talks to us personaly from beyond the grave. That's an unlikely achievement if he and his father between them have been unable to produce a book we can rely on.

Where do we go when we die

we are spiritual beings so where does our spirit go?.

Kinjiro You have missed that most flexible and slippery of words from your post - Supernatural.
It is the magic word that confounds all doubters and vanquishes the logical thinker. Of course there is no such thing as supernatural. All that happens in the universe is phenomenal and therefore a part of nature. Even freaks like myself are a part of nature!

I think perhaps people are confused about life after death because I have reincarnated as a gladiator. This has only been possible because I have over 300 gods on my payroll.
If you only have one god, or a trinity of fragmented gods, which still adds up to one, then my advice is - Do not try this at home.

That kind of talk is pure ignorance.
If there is life after death then my statement would amount to ignorance.
On the other hand, if we only live as part of this planet and return to dust at death, then your statement, "You die and the next day you wake up greeted by a new world." would be a statement based on ignorance.
As neither of us can know with certainty, we are both ignorant in the true sense of the word.
